Police violent offender unit arrests two men and seizes a prohibited firearm: C25-147138

On June 30, 2025, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU), with the assistance of the Guns & Gangs Unit, began an investigation to locate an individual who was unlawfully at large for violating his parole.

Investigators searched and found this individual and another man in a vacant suite in the 500 block of McDermot Avenue.

They were both taken into police custody and a modified SKS rifle and ammunition were seized. 

Damian Kreid NELSON (32) was charged with four firearms-related offences, being unlawfully in a dwelling house and for having a warrant for parole violation. He was returned to custody.

Desmond Jesse DAY (32) was also charged with seven firearms-related offences and being unlawfully in a dwelling house. He was detained in custody.

MIVOAU is a joint task force comprised of the Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba RCMP. This unit aims to identify, locate and apprehend violent offenders with outstanding warrants throughout the province of Manitoba.
