On June 27, 2025 around 8:20 p.m., a man was randomly assaulted in the 100 block of Henry Avenue by a teenage boy armed with a machete.

Central District patrol officers attended and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. According to witnesses, the 68-year-old man was walking past the Salvation Army and was assaulted by a 15-year-old boy who was carrying a machete. Witnesses surrounded the boy so he couldn’t leave and flagged down police patrolling in the area. Police arrested him and recovered two machetes during the arrest.

The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition and has since been upgraded to stable. He requires surgery to repair the damage done by the assault.

The 15-year-old boy has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon. He was detained in custody.
