In November, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Drug Enforcement (DEU) and Firearms Investigative Enforcement Units (FIEU), in partnership with the Manitoba RCMP, launched “Project Quarry”, to identify a network of cocaine and firearms traffickers throughout Manitoba.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of 30 guns and $60,000 worth of cocaine and hydromorphone - an opioid drug. Police arrested five people and charged them with 53 offences related to drug and firearm trafficking:
- Brian Michael GLADUE (36), of Stonewall, MB
- Cory HOPCRAFT (47), of Stonewall, MB
- Chad LINE (48), of Rockwood, MB
- Crystal Leona STROJEC (46), of Winnipeg
- Michelle Precious GROZELLE (23), of Winnipeg
Everyone was detained in custody at the time.
Between March 17th and 19th, 2025, with the assistance of the WPS Tactical Support Team (TST) and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), officers executed search warrants on residences and vehicles in Winnipeg, Stonewall, and Rockwood, MB:
- 3rd Avenue, Stonewall
- Oak Drive, Stonewall
- RM of Rockwood x 2
- 100 block of Strauss Drive, Winnipeg
- 1100 block of Somerville Avenue, Winnipeg
Police seized 30 firearms and a large amount of ammunition during the searches — including handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Some of the guns had been reported stolen, while others were smuggled into Canada. Investigators also seized illegal accessories, such as silencers and devices that can convert guns to fire automatically.
Sixty thousand dollars worth of cocaine and opioids, and $1,500 in cash were located, along with drug packaging and trafficking materials.
