On May 21, 2025 at approximately 8:35 a.m., an adult male victim employed as a security guard was patrolling in the area of 300 Carlton Street when he was assaulted by an adult male without warning. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the assault.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., a second adult male victim employed as a security guard was checking the perimeter of a building in the 400 block of Ellice Avenue when he was assaulted without warning by the same adult male suspect. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Members from the Axillary Force Cadet Unit were patrolling in the 400 block of Ellice Avenue and observed the suspect assaulting the victim. The cadets intervened and took the suspect into custody without incident, utilizing citizens powers of arrest.

Central District General Patrol officers attended and took custody of the suspect.

Jonathan Kevin MASSE (38) of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Assault. He was detained in custody.
