Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C25-106630

On May 17, 2025 at 7:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Redwood Avenue for the report of a hit-and-run involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedics attended and located a 49-year-old male suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. He was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Responding North District General Patrol officers located a stolen rental moving van involved in the incident in the rear lane of the above location. The driver and occupants had fled before emergency personnel arrived.

The injured male has since succumbed to his injuries and the investigation has been assumed by the Traffic Division. 

The victim has been identified as Kurt Fabian PAUPANEKIS (49) from Winnipeg.
