During May of 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Central District Community Support Unit began an investigation regarding drug trafficking and the illegal possession of firearms in the St. Matthews neighbourhood.
The following items were seized by police during the course of the investigation:
- Replica Air Pistol x 2
- Magazine for SKS ammunition
- Large quantity of assorted rounds of ammunition
- Approximately 131 grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $13,100)
- Approximately 0.5 grams of crack cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $40)
- Approximately $600 in Canadian Currency
- Drug trafficking materials/packaging
- Scales
Investigators determined that quantities of illicit narcotics were being trafficked within this neighbourhood. A location of interest and a number of suspects were identified and investigated by police.
On May 17, 2025, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), the Guns and Gangs Unit, the Canine Unit (K9), the East District Community Support Unit, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems/Drone Unit (RPAS), and Central District General Patrol officers, investigators executed two warrants on an apartment suite in the 400 block of Toronto Street.
Two adult males and one adult female were located within the residence and taken into custody without incident. A search of the female revealed a folding knife on her person.
The 42-year old female from Winnipeg is faces the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
She was released on two Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 42-year-old male, from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
A 34-year-old male, from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 6
- Warrant – Possession of Firearm while Prohibited et al.
- Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 3
- Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order
They were both detained in custody.
