On May 18, 2025 at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Police responded to 100 block of Garry Street for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival, Central General Patrol officers observed a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze on its roof, resulting from a rollover after it had collided with a parked 2022 Audi A5. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, rendering them inoperable. Attending members of the WFPS assessed the adult female driver and 18-year-old male passenger of the involved vehicle. Both were medically cleared and no other injuries were reported.
The adult female driver was taken into custody by officers and an investigation was conducted based on observed signs of intoxication.
While being searched at police headquarters, the female became combative and physically assaulted a Central Processing Officer, resulting in a lower body injury that did not require medical attention. The search of her person revealed a folding knife, approximately 3 Grams of Cocaine packaged for sale (Estimated Street Value = $300), and $155 CDN.
The 28-year-old female driver faces the following charges:
- Assault Peace Officer
- Possession of a Weapon
- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or any Combination of Both
- Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
