The Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate, as May 14, 2025, marks one year since the murder of 23-year-old, Leo Amos CARIBOU.

Update:

Investigators have determined that on May 14, 2024, Leo was confronted by an unknown male at the rear of a multi-unit dwelling house in the 0-99 block of Isabel Street. He was stabbed at this location and ran south down the rear lane towards Notre Dame Avenue where he was located. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance to solve this homicide and bring some closure to his family.

As previously released:

On May 14, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received information regarding an injured, unresponsive adult male located in the rear lane in the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Central and North District officers attended and provided emergency medical care to the victim before the arrival of ambulance. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and has now identified the victim as 23-year-old Leo Amos CARIBOU of Winnipeg. Notification to family members has been made, and an autopsy is pending.
