Update:

The Homicide Unit continued to investigate the murder of Kerry EASTMAN and a suspect was identified.

On May 5, 2025, Homicide investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) located the suspect male in the area of McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue and arrested him without incident.

Wyatt Darius PRINCE (24) of Winnipeg has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

He was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On May 4th, 2025 at 1:48 a.m., the Winnipeg Police responded to the 500 block of Waterfront Drive for the report of a stabbing.

Central District General Patrol officers responded and located an adult male victim suffering from injuries consistent with being assaulted. Officers performed emergency medical care, including applying chest seals, until Winnipeg Fire Paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit assumed the investigation, and have identified the deceased as 44-year-old Kerry EASTMAN, a member of Sandy Bay First Nation residing in Winnipeg.
