On April 24, 2025, at approximately 9:24 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a call for service in the 200 block of Vaughan Street regarding an individual armed with a handgun.

Central District General Patrol officers attended and learned that a 32-year-old male suspect and 23-year-old female suspect were attempting to open door handles of multiple vehicles in a parking lot at the above location. A 47-year-old male victim observed the suspects attempting to access his vehicle and approached them. The male suspect produced a firearm and began yelling at the victim before fleeing on foot. No shots were fired and the victim was not injured.

At approximately 9:29 p.m., with the assistance of Air1, officers located the suspects in the area of Portage Avenue and Carlton Street where they were taken into custody without incident. Two replica firearms were seized during the arrest.

Kelvin Dion RYLE (32) of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of a Weapon, as well as five outstanding warrants related to robbery, property crime, and driving offences.

He was detained in custody.

A 23-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon x 2 and Breach of Recognizance. She was release on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
