On April 23, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s Central District Community Support Unit were conducting proactive patrolling in the area of Kennedy Street and Ellice Avenue when the observed two males, one of which was carrying a satchel, entered a hotel. While the officers were in front of an area hotel, officers observed two males, one of which was wearing a satchel enter a common area and then quickly left, no longer in possession of a satchel.
Officers located the abandoned satchel in the common area and a search revealed the following items which were seized by police, including the following:
- Approximately 11 grams of crack cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $900)
- Approximately 86 Hydromorphone pills (Estimated Street Value = $1,700)
- Approximately $80 in Canadian currency
- A canister of bear spray
The two males were located outside the hotel a short time later and arrested without incident. Upon searching the suspect males, the following items were seized by police including the following:
- Approximately 22 grams of crack cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $12,000)
- Approximately 2 Hydromorphone pills (Estimated Street Value = $40)
- Approximately 6 Tylenol 3 pills (Estimated Street Value = $20)
- A canister of bear spray
A 27-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking: Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Weapon
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 30-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking: Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
