Homicide Update – Arrests: C25-65171

As previously released:

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 9:54 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 700 block of Wellington Avenue for the report of suspicious circumstances.

Central District General Patrol officers discovered an adult male at the rear of the above location, and it was apparent that he was deceased.

The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Bronson Emery Dale KEQUAHTOOWAY, a member of Zagime Anishinabek First Nation, Saskatchewan, who resided in Winnipeg.


The Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

Update:

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Homicide investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), executed a warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Simcoe Street. Two male suspects and one female suspect were arrested without incident.

Jeromy Daniel SMITH (20), Richard Allen PENONZEK (43), and Rochelle Hannah Bella LITTLE (28) of Winnipeg have been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

All three were detained in custody.

On April 3, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Homicide investigators attended to a residence in the 500 block of Agnes Street and arrested one female suspect without incident.

Alana Katherine Edith ANDERSON (28) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Accessory After the Fact to Murder
  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 3

She was detained in custody.

On April 9, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Homicide investigators, with the assistance of members of the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit, attended to the 400 block of McDermot Avenue and arrested a male suspect. During his arrest, investigators seized 14 grams of methamphetamine (approximately $700 street value), and $320 Canadian Currency.

Eric Matthew MORRISSETTE (39) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

On April 14, 2025, members of the Homicide Unit attended to Milner Ridge Correctional Centre where they arrested Frederick Francis Mathias BAKER (28) of Winnipeg, who was in custody on an unrelated matter.

BAKER has been charged with the following:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 1

BAKER was detained in custody.
