On April 13, 2025 at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Morley Avenue and Hugo Street South for the report of a male who had been stabbed aboard a transit bus.

Attending West District General Patrol officers located a 22-year-old male victim suffering from a serious upper-body injury sustained from an assault with a sharp-edged weapon. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care with the application of a tourniquet before he was conveyed to hospital. Several suspects fled before the arrival of police.

Through their investigation, officers learned that a group of female suspects were travelling aboard the bus when they became involved in a verbal confrontation with a 23-year-old female. The victim, know to the confronted female, intervened when one of the suspects produced a sharp-edged weapon and assaulted the male in the upper-body. All the suspects alighted the bus and fled on foot.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
