The following incidents involve traffic stops initiated by Winnipeg Police Service General Patrol officers between March 25 and March 27, 2025. The proactive traffic stops resulted in the seizure of three confirmed stolen vehicles, a weapon, monetary, and a large quantity of illicit drugs.
C25-64016:
On March 26, 2025 at approximately 6:45 p.m., patrolling West District officers observed a 2015 Ford F150, previously reported stolen the day prior from the sub 100 block of Manitou Bay, operating in the 100 block of Clarke Street. Officers initiated a follow which spanned the Osborne Village area into River Heights. The lone driver abandoned the vehicle in the sub 100 block of Harvard Street, however, was arrested without incident after a brief foot pursuit. A folding knife was located on her person and seized.
A 31-year-old female of Winnipeg faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited Pursuant to Federal or
Provincial Act, Possession of a Weapon, a multiple Release Order and Probation Order breaches. She was detained in police custody awaiting disposition.
C25-63017:
On March 26, 2025, at approximately 11:41 p.m., patrolling North District officers conducted a traffic stop at Salter Street and McGregor Avenue on a white 2007 Saturn Aura with an incorrect plate affixed. Through their investigation, officers determined the vehicle to have previously been reported stolen on March 25.
A 63-year-old male of Winnipeg was arrested and faces a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and released on an Appearance Notice.
C25-64232:
On March 27, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m., patrolling Central District officers observed a grey 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt operating in a Sherbrook Street back lane not following rules of the road and conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Furby Street to address the H.T.A. infractions.
Officers, noting indicators of drug trafficking, arrested the driver and one passenger without incident. A search of the occupants and of the vehicle regarding the drug investigation, revealed approximately $770 in CDN funds and a reusable bag containing a large quantity of what is believed to be Methamphetamine with an Estimated Street Value (ESV) of $50,000.
A 37-year-old male and a 49-year-old male face a charge (each) of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. The 37-year-old male also faces a charge of Possession of Proceeds of Crime. Both were released via Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
C25-64262:
On March 27, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., patrolling North District officers observed a blue 2015 Mazda 3 operating in the area of Charles Street and Machray Avenue with improper lighting.
Officers conducted a traffic stop regarding the H.T.A. infractions and noted numerous drug trafficking indicators. The driver was arrested without incident and a search of his person and of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over $3,500 in CDN funds, multiple cellular phones, approximately 8 grams of individually wrapped crack cocaine (ESV: $800), and packaging materials.
A 31-year-old male of Mississauga, ON., faces charges of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He was detained in police custody awaiting disposition.
R25-15157:
On March 27, 2025 at approximately 12:05 a.m., patrolling Central District officers observed a black 2021 Dodge Ram in a gas station surface lot in the 200 block of Isabel Street. Officers determined the vehicle had previously been reported stolen from the 700 block of Keewatin Street between March 20 and March 24. The driver of the vehicle exited and fled on foot as officers approached. Members of the Canine Unit were deployed and tracked her to a nearby yard where she was taken into custody without incident.
A 37-year-old female of Winnipeg faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking. She was released on an Appearance Notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
