On March 24, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a parking lot in the 900 block of Kimberley Avenue for the report of an erratic driver.
East District General Patrol officers attended and observed an abandoned, heavily damaged 2021 Kia Forte, which was later confirmed as stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Whitley Drive on March 18, 2025.
Investigators learned through investigation that the stolen Forte had previously entered the parking lot and proceeded to drive erratically, screeching its tires and doing donuts around poles. This continued for a short time, ending in the Forte losing control and colliding into a pole resulting in extensive damage. All four occupants of the vehicle exited and fled the area.
Officers, along with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit (TST) and Canine Unit (K9), successfully tracked the suspects hiding in the rear of a residence in the sub 100 block of Green Valley Bay. Three male youth suspects were arrested without incident. A fourth male youth suspect was located and arrested by officers near Louelda Street and Green Valley Bay a short time later. No injuries were reported.
A 15-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing a charge of Mischief Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
He was released on an Undertaking.
A 14-year-old male and two 15-year-old males, all from Winnipeg were released with no charges.
