Firearm/Drugs – Arrest : C25-60606

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., North District officers conducted a traffic stop on a taxi that was obstructing traffic in the 200 block of Boyd Avenue. As the result of this stop, one individual (a passenger) was arrested and police seized a loaded Glock, a magazine of ammunition, over two thousand dollars in cash, and approximately $3,500 worth of cocaine.

One of the passengers had a warrant and was placed under arrest. Subsequently, the illicit drugs and loaded firearm were discovered in his possession.  

Joshua Joseph JOHNSTON (20) of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences :

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – COCAINE
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Warrant for Fail to Attend Court

He was detained in custody.
