Robbery – Arrest: C25-58469

On March 19, 2025, at approximately 10:35 p.m., General Patrol officers from the Central District responded to a robbery involving a weapon in the 300 block of Edmonton Street.

The first victim, in his 60s, was approached by an unknown male suspect who asked him for a cigarette. When the victim indicated he did not have one, the suspect walked away but then turned around, confronted the victim again and began punching him.

Another male, a second victim in his 50s, witnessed the assault and attempted to intervene, at which point the suspect threatened him with the knife. The suspect fled and police were contacted.

As the officers were speaking with the victims, the suspect was spotted walking nearby and taken into custody on Kennedy Street.

The initial victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Joshua Michael COURCHENE (32), of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon

He was detained in custody.
