On March 17, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers from the North District, along with the Tactical Support Team and the K9 Unit, responded to the report of shots fired in the first 100 block of Battery Street.
Police learned two unknown suspects had entered a residence that was occupied by several adults, some of whom knew the suspects. A confrontation occurred during which the suspects discharged a firearm inside the house and deployed bear spray. None of the occupants were physically injured.
Upon police arrival, one of the suspects was still inside, while the other was taken into custody nearby.
Terrence Cials HANSKA, a 35-year-old male of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:
- Break & Enter with Intent - Dwelling House
- Discharge a Firearm in a Reckless Manner
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
Terry MITCHELL, a 20-year-old male of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:
- Break & Enter with Intent - Dwelling House
- Discharge a Firearm in a Reckless Manner
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 2
- Warrant: Weapons (RCMP)
- Warrant: Fail to Comply Undertaking (RCMP)
They were both detained in custody.
