On March 18, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Central District Community Support officers were conducting proactive police presence in an area with concerns regarding gang and drug-related crime.
They attended a building in the 500 block of Furby Street and heard a loud
machine-drilling sound from a storage room. A male was observed with the machine, while in possession of .22 caliber bullets and a metal tube, believed to be for the purpose of a “zip gun”.
Stephen Michael TYO-HANSLIP (28), of Winnipeg, was charged with Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order and was detained in custody.
