On March 18, at approximately 6:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 500 block of Dufferin Avenue for the report of a male who was believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, North District General Patrol officers observed two male suspects in a heated verbal argument with individuals from the residence. Upon seeing police, the two suspects fled on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued causing the suspects to drop a duffle bag with a butt of a firearm visibly protruding from within. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported as a result of this matter.

A loaded sawed-off Winchester Ranger Model 120, 12-gauge shotgun, and a shotgun shell were located in the duffle bag and subsequently seized.

Investigators have learned through investigation that a male suspect had been at the residence earlier in the evening when he was asked to leave after a verbal argument. He returned a short time later with another male and engaged in another verbal dispute, which escalated to the point where they produced the shotgun and discharged one round into the air, fleeing the scene upon police arrival.
