On March 16, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received information related to a motor vehicle collision involving a red Mitsubishi that had struck a light standard at the intersection of Ness Avenue and Ferry Road. Police were advised an adult male driver and an adult female occupant had abandoned the now inoperable vehicle, and left the area in a ride-sharing service vehicle westbound on Ness Avenue.

Attending West District General Patrol officers observed the ride-share vehicle travelling at Ness Avenue and Olive Street and conducted a containment stop. Both occupants were taken into custody without incident.

Through their investigation, officers determined that the vehicle involved in the collision, a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor had previously been reported stolen on March 11, 2025 in the area of Broadway and Sherbrook Streets. The vehicle was subsequently involved in a collision with another motorist in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Wall Street before fleeing southbound Erin Street and colliding with the light standard mentioned above. No injuries were reported as a result of either collision.

A subsequent search of the driver and stolen vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following property:

  • A Firearm Bolt Carrier
  • A Machete
  • Approximately 2.7 Grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $135)
  • A Possession and Acquisition Firearms License (PAL) not in either suspect’s names

The firearm part was determined to belong to a .22 Calibre Stevens Rifle reported stolen in 1975 from the Ottawa, ON area. The PAL document had also previously been reported stolen.
