Stolen Trailer – Arrests: R25-13037

On March 10, 2025, between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m., an unknown suspect in a yellow Dodge Ram, attended to a commercial business in the 4000 block of McGillivray Boulevard and proceeded to steal an enclosed 2024 Prairie Road utility trailer worth approximately $10,000.

 

On March 13, 2025, the Property Crime Unit received information that a suspect male was selling a trailer over a social media platform. Investigators, posing as a buyer, arranged meet and purchase the trailer from the suspect.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., investigators were in a parking lot, in the 100 block of Railway Street, Starbuck, Manitoba when they observed the yellow Dodge Ram, occupied by two suspect males, pull up towing the 2024 Prairie Road utility trailer.

A traffic stop ensued and the two suspects were arrested without incident and investigators were able to confirm that the trailer was stolen.

Steven Alfred DERKSEN, 47, from Sanford, Manitoba is charged with the following:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Warrant – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

He was detained in custody.

A 36-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
