Update:

As previously released, on September 21, 2021, shortly before 8:45 a.m., a fire occurred at 510 Young Street. A female victim, 44-year old Faye SANDERSON, was found deceased within the residence. The initial investigation revealed that the fire had been deliberately set and foul play was involved.

SANDERSON was a member of  Mosakahiken Cree Nation who was residing in Winnipeg at the time of her death.

After extensive efforts over the years by our Homicide Unit a female suspect was identified. It was revealed through investigation that suspect and deceased were previously known to one another.

Manitoba Justice was consulted and a warrant for Second Degree Murder was obtained.

On March 4, 2025, with the assistance of the Edmonton Police Service, the Homicide Unit attended the Edmonton Institution for Women in Edmonton, Alberta, and arrested 35-year-old Kendra Leanne SINCLAIR.

SINCLAIR was detained in custody.

This investigation remained a priority for our Service, and we recognize the ongoing pain it has caused the family and community.  We appreciate and acknowledge  the support from community members who have come forward with information, which has been invaluable in this process.
