On March 9, 2025 at approximately 4:05 a.m., Central and East District General Patrol officers responded to an apartment complex suite in the 100 block of Young Street for the report of an adult male who had been stabbed.

Officers attended the residence and located a 28-year-old male victim suffering from multiple upper-body injuries sustained from a stabbing. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care including the application of a chest seal. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned that the victim was approached in the 600 block of Portage Avenue by a group of suspects who assaulted him with an edged weapon before they fled. Nothing was stolen from the victim.
