On March 5, 2025, Central General Patrol officers observed a red Dodge Ram being operated in the area of Logan Avenue and Sherbrook Avenue with an improper license plate affixed.

Officers attempted to execute a traffic stop; however, the vehicle, being operated by the dole driver fled from police at a high rate of speed. Air 1 was summoned to assist and took over the pursuit by maintaining visual containment of the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the driver lost control of the vehicle and was involved in a collision at the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Main Street. Air 1 guided ground units to the intersection where the driver was observed fleeing from the inoperable vehicle. Officers apprehended the male without incident after a brief foot pursuit. A canister of bear spray was seized as evidence.

Through their investigation, officers determined that the vehicle, a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500, had previously been reported as stolen on March 3 from the 3100 block of Pembina Highway.

A 29-year-old male, of Winnipeg, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

He was detained in police custody awaiting court disposition.
