Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C25-41535

As previously released, on February 25, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of William Avenue for the report of a Robbery.

Central District General Patrol officers attended and located an elderly female victim laying on the ground, and suffering injuries to her lower body.

The 83-year-old female victim was transported to hospital in stable condition where she remains.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed and is continuing to investigate.

Update:

The Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation and identified a suspect male believed to be involved in the incident.

Investigators learned through investigation that the 83-year-old female had been walking with the assistance of a walker in the 300 block of William Avenue when she was physically assaulted by a suspect male, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect continued to physically assault the victim while she was on the ground, fleeing from the scene when a witness intervened. The victim’s property, including the walker, and a purse were recovered.

The victim continues to recover in hospital after sustaining multiple serious injuries and is expected to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation.

On March 4, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Major Crimes Unit attended to a residence in the 300 block of Ross Avenue and arrested the suspect without incident.

Justin Aaron Michael GETTY, 27, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

He was detained in custody.
