On February 21, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was summoned to assist off-duty officers in the Winnipeg Skywalk near the library/Donald section. A female had been assaulted and a male had been taken into custody.

The victim in her 70s, reported that while walking through the Skywalk with a co-worker, she moved off to the side to avoid a male walking straight towards her. Without provocation, she was body checked by the unknown male causing her to fall to the ground. During the fall, she struck a window and a railing, injuring her upper body.

Off-duty officers in the area observed the incident and, after a brief struggle, placed the male under arrest and called for assistance.

Samer DAGHER, (49), of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and was detained in custody.
