Homicide – Investigation: C25-33530

On February 15, 2025, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a female who had been shot in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue.

North District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and Canine Unit (K9), located an adult male outside the residence suffering from an upper body injury.

An adult female was located by officers within the residence suffering from an upper body injury.

Emergency medical care was provided to both victims before they were transported to the hospital in critical condition. Both have since succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased victims have been identified as 33-year-old Sheldon Derrach CATCHEWAY, and 35-year-old Shanastene Irene MCLEOD. CATCHEWAY was a member of Swan Lake First Nation, and resided in Winnipeg. MCLEOD was a member of Muskowekwan First Nation in Saskatchewan, and resided in Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, and family notifications have been made.
