Robbery/Stabbing – Investigation: C25-31027

On February 11, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Keewatin Avenue for the report of a serious assault with a weapon involving two victims.

West District General Patrol officers attended and learned that a verbal argument between a 26-year-old female victim and a 33-year-old male suspect escalated to the point where the victim was assaulted in the upper body with a knife. A 37-year-old male victim was also present during the argument, and also received injuries from being assaulted in the upper body with a knife. Attending officers provided emergency medical care to the victims until Winnipeg Fire/Paramedic units arrived. Both were transported to hospital in unstable condition with serious injuries, and have since been upgraded to stable. The victims and suspect are known to each other.

The suspect fled on foot before entering a taxi and traveling to the 800 block of Main Street. Prior to exiting the taxi, the suspect produced a knife and robbed a 26-year-old male victim (taxi driver). He was not injured.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., officers located the suspect in the 800 block of Main Street and took him into custody without incident. A knife was seized during his arrest.

Aditvanand KATWAROO, 33 yrs of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault x 2
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Robbery
  • Assault with a Weapon

He was detained in custody.
