On February 7, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a fast food restaurant in the 2800 block of Pembina Highway for the report of a male causing a disturbance and destroying property.
Attending Central District General Patrol officers located a 20-yr-old male suspect within the restaurant and placed him under arrest without incident.
Through their investigation, officers determined that the suspect had attended the restaurant in an agitated state and began destroying property while threatening to kill employees. At one point, the suspect took hold of a garbage receptacle and threw it toward a 65-year-old female employee striking her in the lower body. She suffered a minor injury for which she did not require medical attention. Property damage is estimated at over $10,000.
During his arrest, the suspect provided several false names to investigators and refused to provide his true identity.
With the assistance of North District General Patrol, the suspect was also linked to following three additional mischief to property incidents which occurred earlier in the morning:
- 5:37 a.m.: The suspect attended a surface parking lot in the 100 block of Alleghehy Drive and proceeded to cause damage to a parked 2015 Chysler Town and Country
- 5:49 a.m.: The suspect attended a commercial business in the 2800 of Pembina Highway and shattered the front exterior window causing over $5,000 in damage
- 5:50 a.m.: The suspect attended a surface parking lot in the 2700 block of Pembina Highway and proceeded to cause damage to a parked 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES
A 20-year-old male of Winnipeg faces the following charges:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Utter Threat – Cause Death and Bodily Harm x 2
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Mischief Over $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000/ Obstruct in Enjoyment x 2
He was release on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
