On February 3, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., General Patrol officers from North District responded to the report of an assault aboard a transit bus at Disraeli/Sutherland.
The victims were not known to each other when the accused, without provocation, pulled out a hammer and attempted to strike a male passenger in his 20s. The accused then moved to the front of the bus where he began yelling and tackled another passenger in his 40s.
Other passengers attempted to intervene and fearing for their safety a passenger deployed bearspray to stop the assault.
The accused ran off the bus and he was subsequently apprehended by police on the Disraeli bridge.
The passengers had also exited the bus due to the spray. Nobody was injured, but the bus required decontamination. The bearspray was seized, and no additional charges were laid.
