On February 1, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing downtown in the 200 block of Hargrave Street.

Upon police arrival, the incident was still in progress. Officers deployed a conducted energy weapon (Taser), and both parties were secured. The general area was cordoned off, as it is a high-pedestrian and traffic zone.

One of the males was seriously injured and transported to the hospital in unstable condition by ambulance. His condition was later upgraded to stable. The other male was transported to the hospital in stable condition, treated for a minor injury, and processed by police.

It was determined that the two men, both in their 60s, were known to each other and had been consuming alcohol in a nearby establishment. They got into an argument and were escorted outside by staff. Once outside, a physical altercation escalated, resulting in the 68-year-old male being stabbed.

The 62-year-old male is facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon. He was subsequently released on an Undertaking.
