Robbery with Weapon – Arrest: C25-22793

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s West District General Patrol officers responded to the report of a robbery with a machete.

The 28-year-old male victim indicated that he was walking along the 200 block of Roseberry Street when he was approached by an unknown male armed with a machete and demanded his property. The victim immediately began running with the suspect chasing after him while swinging the machete. The suspect slashed the machete at the victim’s back, but fortunately the victim was protected by the backpack he was wearing.

The victim ran to safety and contacted police while the suspect kept running.

Officers in the area received a suspect description and located the male nearby with the machete concealed on him. 

A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg was taken into custody and has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

He was detained in custody.
