Arson – Arrest: C25-21139

On January 29, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., patrolling North District General Patrol officers observed a working fire in the 800 block of Leila Avenue.

The WFPS were summoned and arrived to extinguish the fire. Officers entered into an investigation and located a male suspect in the 2300 block of McPhillips who matched the description of the male who started the fire. The male was arrested without incident.

A search of the suspect revealed approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $450). A blue lighter was also located and seized near the suspect at the time of his arrest.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed and continued the investigation.

Investigators learned through investigation that the suspect attended to a retail business in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street and proceeded to set a pile of carboard on fire inside an unlocked refuse room. The fire was extinguished by the WFPS and damage was assessed at approximately $10,000.

The male attended to the 800 block of Leila Avenue and set a garbage bin on fire that was located near a commercial retail business, resulting in approximately $5,000 worth of damage.

No injuries were reported.

Ronald Marmito AMIGO, 46, from Winnipeg is charged with the following:

  • Arson Causing Damage to Property x 2
  • Possession of Incendiary Material
  • Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was detained in custody.
