On January 27, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to the 1900 block of Main Street for the report of a male in possession of a firearm.

With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), and the North District Community Support Unit, a male suspect was located a short distance away and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect revealed an unloaded, replica air soft gun.

Officers learned through investigation that the suspect was previously loitering at a restaurant when he was approached by staff. While he was being asked to leave, the staff member observed a firearm protruding from inside the suspect’s jacket and contacted police. The suspect left the establishment without incident.

A 27-year-old male from Winnipeg, is facing a charge of Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition.

He was released on an Appearance Notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
