On January 26, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Isabel Street and Elgin Avenue for the report of a male on an electric bike who was pointing a firearm.
Attending Central District General Patrol officers arrived and located a male, that matched the description of the suspect in the rear of a residence, in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue, and was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
A search of the male and the surrounding area revealed the following:
- A loaded Kriss Vector .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle with magazine containing 1 round of .22 calibre ammunition
- Approximately 5 grams of crack cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $400)
- Approximately $2,700 CDN currency
Allan Ross THAXTER, 38, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
He was detained in custody.
