Stolen Vehicle/ Drugs – Arrests: C25-7934

On January 11, 2025 at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received information regarding a stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 being operated in the St. James Area. The vehicle had been reported stolen during a commercial break & enter earlier the same morning in the 1100 block of McDermot Avenue.

West District General Patrol officers followed the vehicle to the 3900 block of Portage Avenue where the driver and a passenger were observed fleeing on foot after becoming lodged in a snowbank. Officers attended to the Assiniboia Downs where security officers directed them to the VLT lounge where both suspects were located and arrested without incident.

Officers seized the following property from the suspects:

  • Approximately 28 Grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $2,750)
  • Approximately 57 Grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $2,825)
  • Approximately $1,650 CDN Currency
  • Scales
  • Packaging Material

Liam John FREEMAN, 24, of Winnipeg is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 3
  • Warrant (Unendorsed – Fail to Comply)

Desiree Dawn HJORLEIFSON, 25, of Arborg, MB. is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

FREEMAN and HJORLEIFSON were detained in custody.
