Search Warrants/Firearms –Arrests: R24-63234

On December 31, 2024, as the result of an ongoing drug investigation, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed two search warrants.

Searches conducted at residences in the 600 block of Ross Avenue and the 500 block of Elgin Avenue revealed the following items, and 6 people were taken into custody:

  • Approximately $8,000 worth of crack cocaine
  • Approximately $7,500 in Canadian currency
  • Loaded Ruger 9mm handgun
  • Loaded improvised firing device
  • 2 replica handguns
  • Conducted Energy Weapon (taser-style)
  • Cross-bow
  • Body Armour
  • Drug packaging materials

A 24-year-old male, Brent Scott MCCAAN, of Winnipeg was charged and detained in custody:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possess body armour without a valid permit or in a manner inconsistent with the valid permit
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

A 28 year-old-male, Dillon Riley BARKER, of Winnipeg was charged and detained in custody:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

A 38-year-old-male, Allan Ross THAXTER, of Winnipeg was charged and detained in custody:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possess body armour without a valid permit or in a manner inconsistent with the valid permit
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 2

Two males, ages 30 and 33, and a 33-year-old female are facing drug trafficking and weapons-related offences. They were released on Undertakings.
