UPDATE: 2024-12-26 

On December 25, 2024 the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a town house in the 1700 block of St. Mary’s Road for the report of a home invasion.

East District General Patrol officers arrested the suspect a short distance away during a secondary incident, and turned him over to the Major Crimes Unit for further investigation. It was later determined that the suspect was involved in the home invasion.

Jonathon YETMAN-LEVASSEUR, 19 yrs of Winnipeg,  has been charged with the following:

  • Break Enter & Commit Aggravated Assault - Dwelling House
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

He was detained in custody.

As previously released: On December 25, 2024, at approximately 3:01 a.m., East District Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, attended and located a 36-year-old victim suffering from serious injuries as a result of being assaulted with an edged weapon during the home invasion. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Attending officers provided emergency medical care for the victim until members of Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics arrived. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and has since been upgraded to stable.
