Assault Weapon – Arrest: C24-300248

On December 25, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of an assault with a weapon involving an erratic driver near Buchanan Boulevard and Fairlane Street.

Attending West District General Patrol members located a 32-year-old male victim and learned that a 42-year-old male suspect had been driving erratically during a dispute with an adult female passenger. The female passenger exited the vehicle near the above location, prompting the victim to stop and check on her well-being. The suspect produced a baseball bat, swung it at the victim, and threatened to kill him. The victim was not injured as a result of the assault.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later, identified the driver, and took him into custody. The suspect was found to be impaired by drugs or alcohol and a suspended driver.

A 42-year-old male is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
  • Drive Suspended/Disqualified

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
