On December 25, 2024, at approximately 3:01 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a town house in the 1700 block of St. Mary’s Road for the report of a home invasion.

East District Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, attended and located a 36-year-old victim suffering from serious injuries as a result of being assaulted with an edged weapon during the home invasion. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Attending officers provided emergency medical care for the victim until members of Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics arrived. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and has since been upgraded to stable.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation, and is working to determine an updated description of the suspect.
