On December 12, 2024 at approximately 3:06 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 600 block of Wellington Avenue for the report of a male who had been stabbed.
Attending Central District General Patrol officers, assisted by Tactical Support Team (TST) and Canine Unit members located a 19-year-old male victim suffering from an upper body injury sustained from being stabbed. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care with the application of a chest seal. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. An adult male suspect fled before the arrival of police.
Through their investigation, officers learned that the victim had attended the suspect’s residence in the 700 block of Toronto Street and was asked to leave due to his unruly behaviour. The victim complied with multiple requests; however, returned to the residence, continuing his disruptive behaviour.
On the victim’s final return, the suspect armed himself with a large edged weapon, chased the victim from the property, and stabbed him causing serious upper body injuries. The victim attended a business in the 600 block of Wellington Avenue where police were summoned.
TST members located the suspect at the Toronto Street address and arrested him without incident.
The suspect and victim were previously known to one another.
