Stolen Vehicle/Weapons – Arrest: C24-292489

On December 15, 2024 at approximately 1:35 a.m., patrolling West District General Patrol officers of the Winnipeg Police Service observed a stolen vehicle being operated in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Officer learned that the 2013 Ford F150 had been reported stolen from Niverville, MB on December 8, and initiated a follow of the vehicle.

The driver attempted to evade police by driving through the Weston and Keewatin neighbourhoods, eventually losing control and becoming lodged in a snowbank near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Oddy Street. Officers approached the vehicle and required the deployment of a Conducted Energy Weapon to safely place the uncooperative driver under arrest. Officers seized 3D-printed brass knuckles and break-in tools from his person. No injuries were reported.

Officers also determined the driver to be prohibited from operating a vehicle Canada-wide.

A 35-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

He was detained in police custody awaiting disposition.
