On December 5, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers responded to a report of a male passenger on a city bus who was in possession of a firearm.

Officers arrested the male suspect after he disembarked the bus in the 500 block of Main Street.

Officers learned through investigation that the suspect was riding on the bus when a fellow  passenger observed him to be in possession of what he believed to be a  firearm. The passenger advised the operator of the bus who contacted police. The suspect did not threaten or point the firearm at anyone and no one was injured in this incident. An unloaded air pistol was located on the suspect’s person upon his arrest.

A 34-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon and Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition.

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
