On December 6, 2024 at approximately 6:10 a.m., patrolling North District General Patrol officers observed a working fire and heavy smoke coming from a multi-use building located in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue.
With knowledge of occupants trapped inside, officers breached the entry door of the building, alerted a family residing in a basement suite multiple residents of suite unaware of the impending danger, and assisted in their safe evacuation. The family of four, (two adults, two children), a store employee, and the attending officers, were assessed and treated by members of the WFPS for smoke inhalation on scene and did not require further medical attention.
WFPS members brought the fire under control and no other injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
