Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C24-280717

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Winnipeg Walkway System (Skywalk) for the report of an adult female armed with a knife.

Members of the Downtown Foot Patrol attended and located the suspect within the Graham Avenue Skywalk entrance where she was taken into custody without incident. Officers seized a folding knife from her person.

Through their investigation, officers learned the suspect had attempted to enter the Millennium Library in the 200 block of Donald Street while armed with a knife concealed on her person. She was denied entry by library security after setting off the library checkpoint metal detector. The suspect created a disturbance by yelling at security personnel and was directed to leave the premises. Angered by the request, the suspect produced a knife and proceeded to threaten the 33- and 36-year-old male security guards. The suspect fled and police were contacted. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

A 45-year-old female from Winnipeg faces two charges of Assault with a Weapon and one charge of Possession of a Weapon.

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
