On November 26, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the CF Polo Park Shopping Centre in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a male who had been stabbed.

West District General Patrol officers attended and located two adult male victims, (aged 46 and 48 years respectively), suffering from upper body injuries sustained from being stabbed. An adult male suspect believed to be involved in the incident, was being restrained by mall security personnel. He was turned over to the custody of attending officers and two knives were seized as evidence.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned the suspect approached and confronted the two victims who were sitting on a bench within the mall. Unprovoked, the suspect produced a knife and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed both victims causing upper body injuries. The victims subdued and restrained the suspect with security personnel until police arrived. Both victims were subsequently transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for their injuries.

A 20-year-old male from Winnipeg faces two charges of Assault, Possession of a Weapon, and two charges of Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order.

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
