Firearm/Search Warrant – Arrest: C24-275299

On November 24, 2024 at approximately 2:09 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was dispatched to a beer vendor in 1600 block of Main Street for the report of an adult male armed with a shotgun, threatening employees of the establishment. No shots were fired.

Members of North District General Patrol attended and interviewed a 21-year-old victim and a 24-year-old victim, who were not injured as a result of the incident. The initial investigation revealed the suspect was in the vendor causing a disturbance and was asked to leave by security. The suspect attended to a vehicle in the parking lot, retrieved a firearm, and returned to the vendor. He was unable to regain entry and fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

The suspect and vehicle were identified by North District General Patrol officers. At approximately 8:25 a.m., officers located the suspect and vehicle in the 700 block of College Avenue. He was arrested without incident.

At approximately 3:17 p.m., officers executed a search warrant on the above-mentioned residence. As a result of the search warrant, officers seized the following items as evidence:

  • 12-guage shotgun (modified)
  • Ammunition
  • Clothing

Alan COURCHENE, 33 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

  • Point Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted or Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order

He was detained in custody.
