Assault Peace Officer – Arrest: C24-273076

On November 21, 2024 at approximately 4:22 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a call in regards to an adult male armed with a firearm in the Point Douglas area.

Members of the Central, North, and East District General Patrol, Tactical Support Unit (TST), and K9 Unit responded to the call for service. Members of the Major Crimes Unit, who were in the area on an unrelated matter, observed a male matching the description of the suspect in the rear lane of the first 100 block of Lorne Avenue.

As an officer exited their vehicle, the suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab them through the open window. The officer successfully used the door as a shield and was not injured during the assault.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The knife, as well as a replica firearm, were recovered and seized.

Tim MASON, 28 years from Winnipeg was charged with the following:

  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2

He was detained in custody.
