On November 14, 2024, at approximately 10:12 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1600 block of Portage Avenue for the report of an assault with a weapon.
Attending West District General Patrol officers located a 27-year-old male victim suffering from minor wounds to his upper body. He was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was asked to leave an establishment in the 1600 block of Portage Avenue. Prior to leaving, the suspect armed himself with a box cutter, resulting in the victim being injured. The suspect and victim were not known to each other.
The suspect fled prior to police arrive, however, he was located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident,
Tetesnaabijiirobinson COTE, 27 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.
He was detained in custody.
